You can agree or disagree with the author’s views and you are welcome to write your thoughts. You are at the wrong place if you are looking for neutral feedback or comments on “Saaho” movie. Also, there are spoilers in this work, so if you don’t mind a few spoilers before watching the movie, you are all set to read this amazing piece of work about the movie that you won’t find anywhere else. So, let’s start, shall we?

Baahubali fame Prabhas starrer movie Sahoo has been one of the most anticipated films of 2019 and the movie received a lot of attention before even being released. However, ten days after being released the chatter about is not all good or bad, it’s mixed. Some liked the movie, others hated it but despite negative reviews by critics, it’s still going good on domestic as well as global box office collection. The film is released in multiple languages globally; Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

This article is going to be about Saaho movie and what different flavour does it bring it to the box office if any.

First, let’s talk about the uniqueness of the movie and the differences it brings us from the cliché Bollywood movies. The movie is different in the aspect that there is a significantly higher number of characters involved in the storyline of the movie. Conventionally, in any drama or fictional movie setting, there’s a hero, heroine and a villain and there are numerous other characters which are in supporting roles. The supporting characters rarely get the focus in the storyline. Sahoo is different in this aspect. There is one hero, Prabhas but that’s it! The movie will make you scratch your head finding out the next important character in the storyline. Or differently put, you won’t be able to track how frequently the focus on the characters shift. In a few scenes, it seems that a particular character has a strong base in the storyline but in just the next scene, your hopes shatter. The focus shifts to another character. In short, there are lots of twists throughout. Villians keep changing, making your brain to guess what’s going to happen next. Good characters turn bad and vice versa. And the storyline is written such that hardly your guess will be right. You will not be able to guess the scene until it reveals itself before your eyes. The importance of the characters keeps fluctuating from scene to scene, except for Prabhas.

Coming to that point, this movie is a Prabhas dominated movie. It is built around Prabhas. Prabhas is the heart of this movie. Prabhas has hi-jacked this movie in its storyline, dialogues, and even in the songs. This movie is just what you need to watch if you are a die-hard Prabhas fan, it won’t disappoint you. Prabhas has done not a bad job with his role but there are things to be noticed. The first one being his accent in his voice when he speaks Hindi and the other is his sound. Throughout the movie whenever he speaks he sounds like a tired drunken rich man. The voice of the hero should be commanding, it should gather people’s attention, but it’s not the case. Who knows, this is another USP of this movie?

Another unique thing about this movie is that it has a lot more plot than a three hour-long movie can handle. It seems similar to one of Dan Brown’s novel turned movies in which you can hardly catch up to the story if you haven’t read the book already. There are scenes which feel incomplete; where you wish it should have lasted longer to convey the meaning more clearly. There are scenes which build up and are left, and you assume that they will be taken up in the story subsequently, but they never are. And there are not just one of these scenes. Sometimes, you wonder why a particular scene was there in the movie as it doesn’t make any sense. The interesting thing is that our brains are not trained to expect such a scenario. So, the movie can have you scratching your head by interval if you keenly focus on every scene.

Another uniqueness of this movie is that scenes are occurring at different locations at the same time involving different characters. And they frequently switch amongst themselves. This is possible because the storyline stitches together many characters to make an interesting plot. The background music also keeps changing with the scenes and its worth mentioning. Sometimes, the timing of the background score is just perfect.

Shraddha Kapoor is cast opposite to Prabhas in the movie. As with any other Bollywood movie, the lead actors fall in love. But, the movie lacks the building up of romance between them. They fall in love somehow and then their chemistry carries on. Further chemistry between them doesn’t disappoint but the start is what leaves a jarring feeling.

The movie has few songs but except one song, rest lack the bling including the music in the songs. But, you can appreciate the shooting of the songs. The geographical locations selected for the shoot of some of the songs look spectacular. Besides, the VFX in the movie is very nice and it does not disappoint.

There are lots of punches in the story, or I should say that the movie tries to include some punches but they fail miserably. You cannot decide whether you want to laugh or appreciate or decry about the scene after the movie is over. Maybe, it’s the timings that’s bad.

And like all movies, there are some absurd scenes which are just not feasible in real life. So, just keep the common sense at home and don’t try to make sense of everything that’s happening in the movie and you will be able to able to enjoy the movie to its fullest!
